Interviewer: Give Me the argument, the best argument you know, for the power of cinema.
Quentin Tarantino: Oh gosh, you know one of the things about cinema that I just find very moving, it’s why it’s my favorite art form, is when you go to a movie and you see a certain sequence, and if there is real cinematic power and there’s cinematic flare. There are certain filmakers that you feel were touched by God to make movies and it would be a combination of editing and sound, usually it’s like visual images connected with music or something, but when those things work and they really connect..it’s just like you forget to breathe. You are really transported to a different place. Music doesn’t quite do that on it’s own, novels don’t quite do it, & a painting doesn’t quite do it. They do it there way but with cinema, especially if you’re in a theatre and you’re sharing the experience with a bunch of other people so it’s this mass thing going on..it’s just truly, truly thrilling.(x)

When I was about 11 my cousin passed away from leukemia and left behind a little girl who wasn’t even two. I couldn’t go to her funeral, because she lived in El Salvador and I just felt so terrible. She was a wonderful person with a loving daughter who was abruptly taken from this world. I don’t want another little boy or girl to lose their parents because there aren’t any available resources.
I want to donate blood and plasma because there are people out there that have greater reasons to live than I do at the moment, and I want to help them. I want to donate bone marrow because I just want to…plain and simple. There are people who need it and I want to provide it. I’m aware it’s painful, it’s a surgical procedure, but I’d only be sore for a couple of days.
There are always blood and plasma shortages in hospitals in the summer. I’m going to call the hospital and see how I can go donate, it’s just something that I really want to do. It’s so simple and it can save so many lives. I’m also thinking of donating bone narrow, as it’s done under general anesthesia, but I’m not sure if my parents will let me. I might have to wait for that until december when I’m eighteen.
I had my cello lesson today and I had been having a less than satisfactory day. We started as usual and I started feeling better, because music always does that for me. My teacher is a wonderful person whom I have a great rapport with. She has been teaching me for three years, but I had take a year long absence due to personal reasons.
Today, I mentioned that I was thinking of minoring in music and she was really happy that I was thinking of continuing my music career. She told me about her college experience with majoring in music and how she really enjoyed experimenting with the different forms of art. She, name is Mrs. Baldwin, said she thinks I’m pretty well rounded with my appreciation for the different arts. We even went into how artists (of varying forms) are very emotional and (for lack of a better word) odd. She and I even went into how we prefer being emotional people rather inexpressive, it’s just something that comes naturally with being an artist.
Mrs. Baldwin is really a great person with whom I have great conversations with. She told me that she would really love to continue our conversations about what I’m thinking of doing after high school and my thoughts of varying forms of art. So in short, she invited me to coffee and I really think she’s a person who I plan to keep in contact with throughout my life.
